A lot of these topics can be over 100K in length! I mean, I can manage, but it is even beginning to slow down here! Is it really irritating at this site with a modem? Or do you all have something faster?

no problem with my uni server, once you're able to log on, that is - from work its a fast direct connection to the uni - can't play games at work, but somehow forum posting doesn't generate the same guilt.

Well when I post from the Uni its actually much faster than my home connection.
Go figure.

We have a T-1 at work, and the site still runs slow. I think it has something to do with how the site is built. The site, I think, runs a bit faster on my modem, than at work. Wierd

I have no problems whatsoever with the speed of this site. I have an ordinary 56K modem with W95 OS, works fine for me. Ive tried this site in the computer lab at Chalmers (University of Technology), and its only marginally faster there, now why is that ? They have like the biggest, fastest bunch of computers in Gothenburg.

The only person who complains about long loading times is the same one who has an average of about 17 posts/day. Coincidence?

hmm... I also have a problem with speed, I mean FIVE whole seconds for some of these 100kb+ threads, what an insult! I will return my ADSL modem, and demand a refund

If You have IE, clicking "Stop" in the main screen will get you some of the topics, at least. I usually press "Stop" after about 2-3 seconds of loading, which means the top 10-20 topics are listed. Simple! Doesn't work under netscape, sadly.

Yeah, and then it refreshes every time you click "Back"

Bear in mind folks, it doesn't matter how fast your connection is if the server doesn't have the juice to give it to you at that speed. (Did that sound vulgar?) Technically, (I think) my cable modem should go as fast as my network card (100Mbps), but I usually don't hit more than 300K bps on powerful servers. My all time high is 534K.

If the server can only give you 3.2 K bps, then it doesn't matter if you have a T3. You still only get 3.2 K bps.
