I don't have DK gold, but I have the original DK and it was one of the most fun games I have played. Very funny. Good sound. Very original. Crappy AI. All in all a lot of fun, get it. |

I agree, I don't have gold, but the only thing difference with gold is that it comes with the expansion and you don't have to download the D3D patch. Get it. |

Interesting idea, but the interface is pretty fidgity. Also it's too damn dark to see anything and the gameplay is too repetative. I can't recommend it highly. |

I played my mates copy... Haven't played the expansion pack... Comments from other friends about the MP were very favourable, but I never manage to find the time to play MP in any game.I didn't have a problem with the interface as such, though I do agree with Khan Singh that it was a little dark...I think the expansion corrected that, though. Oh...and the AI is pooh, but I still enjoyed it. |

The greatest bit in DK (for me) was keeping a Horned Reaper in a secure area until the heroes came, the slapping him (to make him froth at the mouth), then SENDING TO KILL THE GOOD GUYS!!!!! In other words, fun. John III |

Don't buy this game. It's the most repetitive piece-of **** RTS I've ever seen. Complete lack of variation in the missions, crap graphics et al.IT was such a promising Idea. I had hoped it'd be a god game. |

Do I detect a hint of idiocy there? No, but seriously, imagine The dungeon keeper idea but not broken down into missions- You constantly build up your dungeon, making it longer and more complicated, creating traps and labyrinths. There's a constant stream of adventurers doing the best to reach your treasure trove, and the more famous your dungeon gets the more arrive. Towards the end your dungeon would be a multi-levelled, multi-directional beast, towards which hordes of tough adventurers would travel. Eventually whole armies would try to invade. You'd crush 'em. Mercilessly. Kind of like Civ, but underground and in real time. That's the game I wanted! I wanted to design a fiendishly intricate dungeon network, place labyrinths, traps and false doors, monsters hiding behind pillars, the whole lot. |

Get it. This game was created during a time when RTSs had about as much mission variety as Doom did, and it 'suffers' the same fate; although not horribly so. Graphics wise, it's lacking, but you don't expect much from games from that era in the first place. Rudimentary 3D map, 2d sprites for minions. Improved the map quite a bit after the D3D patch, though. Yes, virtually every mission deals with killing the Lord of the Land, but missions vary greatly...an enemy Keeper, two enemy keepers, pre-built levels, limited cash, unlimited cash for the enemy Keeper, etc. It's enough. The game's amusing, too. You just gotta love the Gods being displeased with your sacrifice, and therefore turning all of your creatures into chickens. You gotta love the ability to backhand your minions. You gotta love chickens exploding when you backhand them. You gotta love the twisted natures of the Torture Chamber and Dark Mistress. And you just gotta love trying your best to keep your Horned Reaper happy.Get it. Shadowhawk |

You know what would be mint change for 2, is if you could play one where you are the dungeon keeper, and your friend is the heros, or vice-versa. That would be interesting. |

Yeah. I always wanted a "Grim Reaper" to be a specialist assasin. In fact, me and a friend compiled a HUGE list of new ideas, but lost it John III |

DK2 is out. The Dark Mistress on the box is quite appealing, but I think I'll wait for a review. |

DK was an excellent game and good single player.Although it had a few play imbalances that sprang to life in multiplayer. I've been playing Dungeon Keeper 2 36 hours straight......it is twice as good as Dungeon Keeper 1 and brilliant multiplayer. It has alot of new twists, like now you have mana, which is used for your spells and imps. And the single player is even better with a good variety of missions. If you have a choice, get Dungeon Keeper 2.
You could not go back to 1 after playing 2. Only thing is, you need a pretty good PC to play it. My p120 with 32Mb RAM crashes out quite often on the lowest settings. hehe |

Get it. It's good for a laugh. Not hugely replayable, but good enough. If it's at full price I wouldn't recommend it, but it would be good for a cheaper price. I'm looking forward to DK2 now.James |
