You might want to give some info which would narrow down the choices. What games do you currently play and enjoy? What games did you hate? What types of games do you prefer (shooters, real-time strategy, turn-based, role-playing, flight sims, wargames, sports, etc.)? |

I recommend Brian Lara Cricket or X-Wing Alliance. John III |

The games that i like are: SMAC Civ2 Red Alert (those aer the only games i have) I like strategy games, turn playing games, i didn't like starcraft that much (played at friends house) I would probably like most games, oh yea, i have Caesar III. Please, any suggestions for a new game? |

Starcraft wins a lot when you get into it. |

Railroad Tycoon II is a good choice. Business strategy and a little bit of history. It is real-time, although you can set the pace of real-time (including doing stuff while paused). |

Get "Emperor of the Fading Suns" from Holistic. It is one of the best civ-style strat games I've ever played. For real time, I'd recommend Imperium Galactica. Both are really good, and are bargin-bin software. You could probably get each for $10. |

Sethito, Why don't you try Sid Meier's Gettysberg!? It is real time similar to Red Alert. It has a definite historical flavor like Civ II. And it is a Firaxis Games game like SMAC. If you are at all interested in the battle tactics of the 19th Century, this is a must game. Besides, I bet the price is right now too. Don't forget to find and install the 3rd patch. |

JohnIII recommended Heroes of Might & Magic 2; I concur, but HOMM3 is now out and it's more of the same but better. My other recommendations are all older games: Master of Orion 1 and 2 (MOO2 is a very different game from MOO, not a typical sequel), Colonization, Master of Magic, and Pirates. I haven't tried RR Tycoon 2, but I can definitely recommend the original RR Tycoon. |

I don't have HOMM3 so I can't recommend it. How about Fantastic Worlds for Civ II? It's great fun making scenarios (even if mine broke-no research ) John III |

Whoa, you mean you have to conquer people's cities with Warriors while they're defending with warriors and all they can build is Barracks, warriors, and Settlers? Count me in next MP game. ANYway, back to the point of the thread... Gettysburg! is definatly a good choice. You might also want to try Tiberian Sun, Imperialism II, and Colonization II. |

Check out the Imperialism 2 thread. El Presidente: I thought Fading Suns was an RPG. Am I just wrong here? |

Baldur's Gate is very good. Of all of the games that I've bought recently, this one has the most staying power. |

HolyWarrior: "Fading Suns" is the pen and paper RPG. "Emperor of the Fading Suns" is a civ style strategy game based in the FS universe. Both are great products. |

EFS was/is a great product, but it always felt kind of unfinished somehow. I still really liked it. For me, right now I am playing lots of Imperialism 2 and Gettysburg! |

Raven, your right about EFS feeling somehow unfinished. I can only hope Starship Diplomacy makes up for its shortcomings. How is Imperialism 2? |
