quote: Amendment VIIIn suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.
Obviously, it is no longer practical to enforce a $20 limit on civil lawsuits, but I would be interested in how much $20 dollars in the 1776 is worth now. As in couldnt be more than $20000 or so, I think that our judicial system violates the Bill of rights on a daily basis with its multi-million dollar rulings.

Oh ****! I misread the 7th Amendment. But I still would be interested as to what $20 then is worth now. |

What has been the cumulative interest on the $20 since 1776? |

Actually the US government violates the Bill of Rights every day, by passing and enforcing gun control laws, not to mention laws banning prayer in school, etc. |
