Alright, this is an experiment and I hope it works out ok:

This is a roleplaying game based on Mars. It is a bit like 'Red Mars' but less corny and more pragmatic.
Several bases have been set up, all under the auspices of a combined US/Russia/ECC project. A few imigrants have been allowed in, but the total population is less than 100,000.
The year is 2058, the first landing on Mars was 2030, and the first sustainable colony was build in 2036. Terraforming is underway, but the timeline will be thousands of years, only a few single cell organisms are surviving on the surface.
Contact has been lost with Earth! This is due to a massive solar flare.
Some of the Bases have formed Governments and are attempting to break away from the offical 'Government'
You are any faction except the 'Earth Loyalists' (they are they UN, and you are at war with them)
Rules,
1/ no leaving Mars (or bases other than on Mars), at all, no Phobos or Deimos either.
2/ You all start with two bases, and only 200 armed soldiers.
3/ 1 Tech per 3 days.
4/ Mars probably cannot be terraformed, to a significant degree. If a suit breaks on Mars, you will slowly die from expansion bruising, and extreme cold.
You are in Rubber(nonair tight) suits which hold the body in at Earth Pressure. You still have helmets and an Oxygen supply.
The benefit of a rubber suit is that a small tear will not cause your entire body to expand and boil, as the air escapes. (just the region protruding thru the tear will get bruised and frostbitten).
5/ I will be leading the plot to start with, but I am open to suggestions.
6/ No aliens, of any sort, at any time.
7/ A new rule is made by a majority vote of existing members.
8/ The only time you can make peace with the UN, is when they offer it to you.
9/ There will be a Map of Mars, in the non-smac section, so draw up your territories there.
10/ No rebel alliance, or something else derived from films/books/Radio
You can be a warrior faction, which starts with 300 soldiers, but one tech every 4 days.
You can be a Researcher Faction
100 troops but one tech every two days
A UN faction, 4 cities, but you are bossed around by UN command
A custom faction
I am Major Bloodnok of the Martian Empire, we are ex-chinese/russian colonists who believe in a unified Mars.
We claim parts of Utopia Planatia with three bases. Acheron, Hades, Charon.

Im am President Korian representing the Confederate States of New Terra. We are a democratic nation, although the President has greater power during times of emergency. We have recently become a miltary based nation, in order to protect ourselves from the chaos engulfing our planet. Our goals are to found more basess and establish an oppurtunity for our people to flourish. We offer peace treaties to all Martian nations.
OOC: The map was too blurry to read, so I couldn't claim any territory.
