I was curious to know how many different countries are represented by the people who post on this site. I, for one, am and American(At least the last time I checked, don't know if Clinton has sold us off to the chinese yet). So, Who's out there?

Poland (where I was born and spent about 6 years and then left for the "land of opportunity") But my mom is from America, her dad from Germany, my dad is a Polak, although his grandfather is Irish, grandmother is Russian, so I guess I'm representing a lot more countries than I thought.P.S. my wife is from Japan |

walruskkkch, Ah, which kind of American are you: North, Central, South? Your profile suggests you are actually from the U.S.A., as I am. ;-)

And to top it Im from Gteborg (on the front side of Sweden)Swedens 2:nd city in population the city that can offer things like * Liseberg (Swedens biggest amusement park), * Slottsskogen (equivalent to Central Park NY with some seals, a birdhouse, flamingos, childrens zoo, etc, etc. thrown in). Thanks to everyone for your contributions, although I just wanted to know what countries you live in, not ancestory, but that's interesting too. I used the term American for myself, being a citizen of the US, Massachusetts style, though New Yorker by birth. Does anyone else refer to themselves as Americans from the other countries of the two continents? Anyway here are the totals so far.US 10 Canada 4 Sweden 4 Austria 2 England 2 Finland 2 Poland 1 Norway 1 Germany 1 Denmark 1 Russia 1 Korea 1(South?, or is it impolite to ask?) Australia 1 and Mars 1 Snickers 1 I think that's an accurate list, although with some multiposts and cultural heritages it was hard to tell. BTW I'm thrid generation US with a pure Lithuanian bloodline.(At least for a 5 or 6 generations) I remain, YOur faithful and obedient servant |

Bishop: You don't have to be insulting . I do not sound like an Easterner!!! I come from Bergen, the capital of western Norway, where we use uvular r's (like in Skne), we have a completely different tone of voice than the Easterners and we have those famous (at least in Norway) broad 's (where every short /e/ sound like []: e.g. Brgn (Bergen), Svrj (Sverige), Nrg (Norge), nglann (England) etc.) What I meant was that the Gteborg dialect is great! I love it ! I always think of Albert & Herbert when I hear it . |
