Sure, there's Post Raisin Bran, among others... Could those in Europe ping and tracert www.firaxis.com to see what their lag time is? How does it compare to owo.com? My tracert revealed: 16 hops to owo.com (inc. firewall) 11 hops to www.firaxis.com (inc. firewall) My ping revealed: ~90 ms to owo.com ~20 ms to www.firaxis.com (that's wow fast)

I don't have a ping measuring program, but thta old "a connection could not be establised" speaks for itself... |

You know, act like a sonar and ping. [Practicing] "Ping", "Ping." See, works well. Start -- Programs -- Command Prompt The black DOS window pops up. Type... ping www.firaxis.com [Enter] ping owo.com [Enter] tracert www.firaxis.com [Enter] tracert owo.com [Enter] Record the results. Each ping results in four tries. Record the most common result. Each tracert records all the hops between you and the server (in nitty gritty detail--you can see who has the crappy connection--it might be your ISP, for instance). Sometimes it will time out, which is not good and means some connection between you and the server is just plain slow. |

You know, act like a sonar and ping. [Practicing] "Ping", "Ping." See, works well. Ping... ping... ping... hey, I can do that! Ok, alpha.owo.com:
282-298ms 21 hops www.firaxis.com: 191-225ms 18 hops Now, what does that tell us ? (Or you ?) Raisin' -- I reckon we can raisin' this through without gettin' our knickers in a knot. Yes, but if we were raisin' our knickers, would this result in a knot ? I should add a little "Huh?" here... Raisin -- Yummy. Yes, absolutely.... |

It tells us that, all things being equal (server speed, etc), www.firaxis.com is a faster connection than owo.com.So... This speaks to the desirability of the Firaxis off-topic forums versus the desirability of these forums. Capeche? |

I don't want to think about that, so I'm just using altavista translations:"I reckon we can raising this through without getting our knickers in a knot." -> "Ich rechne uns die Dose, die durch dieses anhebt, ohne unsere Knickerbocker in einem Knoten zu erhalten." -> "I calculate us the can, which is rising through him, without recieving our knickers in a knot." "can" as in "a can of beer"... cute... Ok, another try: "We can come to an intellectually satisfying result without damaging our brain cells" ? |
