Expect people to admit to it on a public forum. |

Actually, I know someone who knows someone that has a copy. Personally, I like the movie but I can wait until the end of the year or whenever it comes out for sale on video. |

Dark Nexus-- I hadn't heard that, but I don't believe it anyway. Sales would most likely be a lot higher releasing them separately, and I can't see them waiting it out between movies when there's so much money to be made.1212-- It's amazing how many people really dislike this movie. I mean there's no way I'd call it anything more than just a good, fun movie, but it certainly wasn't bad. The script is awful, I'll admit that. I just don't understand what people expected... it's all about special effects and unbelievable (and often unrealistic) battles and action. What more do you want from a Star Wars movie? |

Why wouldn't they want to admit it here? My understanding of the law is that it's only illegal to sell, not to buy. |

I think it is illegal to own stolen merchandise, if you know it is stolen when you buy it. Ussually people get out of this because how can you know it's stolen. But with a bootlegged copy of star wars, how can you not know it was ripped off. |

Isn't Phantom Menace going straight to cable, then to video? I heard that on ET (or was it Extra! or some other entertainment show).... |

It's illegal to own stolen merchandise regardless, ISTR that in this sort of case it is wierd. |

CrayonX-- I can't imagine anything like that happening. Remember, it's all about money, and it certainly wouldn't be a profitable decision to put it on cable first. I heard that Fox will be airing it first in November of 2000, but I'm sure it will be out on video long before that. My guess would be by Christmas this year, as that makes the most sense from a financial perspective. |

A friend of mine (who's house I am in now owns a copy, he bought it from a Chinese guy when he was in New York. It was videotaped in the theater though, so we're not going to watch it, we'll just wait for it to open in the cinema |

I got one. Come on FBI. Come and get me. I know you guys monitor these forums. Anyway who would wan't to watch a bootleg if it's been taped with a video camera. The whole point of star wars is to enjoy the big screen special effects and sound. |

Actually, while in the US it is illegal to copy and sell bootleg videos, it is not illegal to purchase them. I was surprised to hear this myself. I heard this on the news earlier, and also that the penalties for bootlegging are not all that severe anyway. |
