This is the real eccles, not imposter Bloodnok. Does anybody have a serious idea about what Titan is like? (its atmospheric constituants etc) Why is it the only moon is the Solar System with a decent atmosphere. A serious thread, against the hoards of frivolity....

Titan is me.Other than that, Titan has an atmosphere 1.6 times denser than EarthIt is the body, after Earth that has the most chance of having some life. Titan. |

What is happening here, why does all my text get erased? So Titan has an atmosphere 1.6 times denser than Earth's. It is mainly composed of nitrogen as is Earth's. The temperature is around minus 70 degrees Celsius. Thus, there could be methane or ethane lakes. It is the body that has the most chances of having life after Earth. Titan.

LOL!!!...I can't believe someone would doubt that Titan has not read 2001 to 3001... though maybe he has not seen 2010...2001 surely...but I'm not sure about 2010. |

Spoe : I agree, Europa and Ganymede may support life. I read 2010. If you give that argument than Jupiter becomes a good place too. They are regarded as possible place for life , but the lack of atmosphere is a big argument against it. Another thing is that we do not know if there is liquid water under the ice-covered planet. So this is why Titan is generally considered to be the best posiibility. :P back to you Spoe.Titan. |

I thought they were almost certain there was liquid water under the ice on Europa. The smoothness of the surface indicating a frequent recovering by fresh water. We'll know about Titan soon enough, so long as the probe (whose name I have just completely forgotten, and I watched something on it only last night...) doesn't go **phut**...I think it's due to splash down about in 2004. |

Surely Europa and Ganymede were regarded as a possible setting for life because Jupiter became Lucifer? Just a thought. John III |

JohnIII, if you read 2010, you will remember, that life was found on Europa by the Chinese team before Jupiter became Lucifer. The reason the transformation took place was because the Europans had showed potential to develop intelligence. |

Titan:I believe that while the lander is called Huygens, the actual probe is Cassini. I remember when they launched it a couple of years ago, all the environmentalists were making a bit shit fit aboot how it was nuclear powered. |
