Yeah, the moon's one option. Another good idea is for a space station situated at the L5 point, that is midway between Earth and the moon. I was reading somewhere that there was a plan to start the barest vestiges of the station at L5, then start up a lunar mining colony. This colony would provide all the raw materials that would be used for constructing the station. Eventually, this station could get to being able to house hundreds of thousands of people. Barring that, a NEA or Mars.
