I tried to post at the new CivIII forums, at the Firaxis website, and they said my name wasn't registered. Fine, I go to register under this name and e-mail. What do I get? "That name and/or e-mail have been reserved for someone else"
Someone care to explain this to me?

I had that problem once, turned out in the end that I had put a space before my user name in the top box which is why it thought I wasn't registered.
Either that or someone's nicked your nick.

This may be part of the notorious 3YH-problem. Every three years, there is a total YYYH system shutdown... (?)
