The football season is over (Except for Bolton, John III) so it's time to talk about.... football! The Euro qualifiers to be exact.

Here's the place for all the rumour, speculation, predictions and general light hearted banter.

Keegan has said he wants to clone David Beckham and play him on the right and in the center, Sheringham might come straight back into the team. Keown is in Adams has made himself unavailable.

Any news from the Swedish team? Can Sweden win at Wembley? Can we qualify for Euro 2000? Will Beckham's clone be ready for this game?

What does everyone think?

Well, We beat you at Rsunda... So it's not impossible. Remember, even if sweden loses this game, they have a great chance of winning the group.

Tonight is the Sweden-Jamaica Game at rsunda. We'll have to see sweden's shape there. (I know half of the good players are missing due to club engagements, but Anyway).

I know, you have to slip up twice and one of those has to be us. Have you still got to play Bulgaria away? Probably the hardest group game except England away. (and Sweden but you don't play yourself)

Sweden have both Poland and Bulgaria at home.
I'm a little bit worried over Swedens play lately though. Seems like they have lost the touch in a way, they don't play as well as they used to with the new coach

The game against Luxenbyrg will prove nothing since all the best players are missing + Norway beat them with 6-0 so they aren't any good team..

Like that little game played last night. Supposed to have quite a good ending, though .

I'm a neutral, but what team should I root for?

Yksel Osmanovski scored both goales. There weren't any more goals in the second period. Jamaica has a very very very very bad team. I liked the play from Daniel Andersson though, he can be something very good and usefull in the future. Plays very much like Jonas Thern used to do.

DanS Sweden ofcourse

Who would England most likely play against Sweden...or who would you rather like to see in the lineup??

I heard that Adams will not play???

Valtyr

Jamaica played with 8 guys in the defense. Guess they had lost some confidense after the game against Norway he he he...

A game between Norway and Sweden would be interesting. Then we really could show you which team is the best in Scandinavia he he

This is who I think'll play against Sweden (assuming everyone who is supposed to be fit still is)

Shearer Sheringham
Macmanaman Ince Scholes Beckham
Le Saux Campbell Keown G Neville
Seaman

That's not necessarily who I'd like to play just who I think will play.

Valtyr posted 05-28-99 01:24 PM ET     Click Here to See the Profile for Valtyr  Click Here to Email Valtyr
Correction: Sweden 2 Jamaica 1

Well, well, well, you didn't mention that the Jamaicans scored, did you...

Goals by Osmanovski (2) and Marcus Gayle.

HA HA! MikeH, why do they keep playing Macmannaman?

And why do they still use Keown?

He's an old-fashioned English defender, whom they play instead of Ehiogu, Brown, Curtis, etc.

Uhmm... All the good players were either away (Swartz, Larsson, Mjllby, Blomqvist, Bjrklund) or changed off at half time to test the second reserves. Our team will be (1) Full and (2) Motivated against england.

Potential lineup for June 5th:

Hedman
Nilsson Bjrklund P. Andersson ?
Mjllby Swartz Svensson Lungberg
Larsson K. Andersson

Subs: Alexanderson, Osmanovski.

'old-fashioned' is the key word .

I didn't see the second half, it was a very boring game Valtyr....

I think the key to beat England is speed. England have very stable big d-players who are awfully good with their heads. But they are pretty slow so if we could keep the ball on the ground and play fast like at Rsunda we will have a fair chance to beat them

For some reason I'd like Klas Ingesson to play at the midfield(sp?) he has had a fantastic season in Italy this year and works extremely hard for 90 minutes + overtime but that wil never happen

predictions? Sweden 9 England 0 he he he

I kinda like the commercial channel 3 here in Sweden is running right now that goes something like this.

For 1000 years ago the Vikings conquered England. This time we wont be so nice! he he

The advert here on Sky goes "Once we were managed by a turnip, now we take on the Swedes."

Actually it doesn't but I wish it did.

John III condolences on the play-off loss but I have to admit I was cheering for Watford, the memory of Reading's play off defeat 4 years ago came flooding back. We finished second that season and didn't go up. Which sucks.

LET THE GAME BEGIN!!!!!

I played on the Swedish "stryktipset" and I bet a draw or a victory for England unfortunally ...I'd like to make some money......

There was a Swede on the radio this morning singing England's praises. It took some time for her (the presenter) to realise that he was joking. LOL

Pretty even in the first half. Perhaps a little advantage to England. As suspected a very physical game. Haven't seen much off Beckham so far. Cole should have a red card by now. Over and all a very intensive and good game. 0-0

SWEDEN SVERIGE

0-0

I ment that scholes should have a red card in the first half, but justice was served early in the second. I think the game was very evan and 0-0 was fair

Good game. One of the few good 0-0 games I have ever seen. Scholes should have been out in the second minute, and if not there at least in the first half. Oh well, At least he was out...

Hey, does anyone know why we stupid Americans call football 'soccer'?
Valtyr posted 06-06-99 09:39 PM ET     Click Here to See the Profile for Valtyr  Click Here to Email Valtyr
Actually, the word is an English invention. It's short for associaton football (Football Association) to distinguish it from rugby football (rugger).

I'm sure I told you all that I didn't like Paul Scholes but I didn't know why....

I agree with Ambro2000 Scholes should have been sent off in the first half, in fact I think the very first tackle after about 2 mins was almost a red card on its own. I wasn't surprised at all that he got sent off.

The first half was pretty good, a couple of chances for England and a few more for Sweden on the break. The second half was pretty boring though. Sweden didn't really look like they wanted to exploit their extra man by attacking and just passed the ball around.

That gives Sweden top place in the group and we're going to have to fight it out with Poland for a place in the play-offs.

I think we would have scored 2nd half if Scholes hadn't gone off. Three injuries before Wednesday's clash with the Bulgars isn't great either!
