Being only an ignorant Yank that perceives that soccer (football) is merely a game where a bunch of people run around like crazy on a big field kicking the living crap out of a ball for hours and still only getting a couple of scores I would like to know what is so good (or bad) about Manchester United winning this championship. ;-) |

Ah, you need to be educated in the subtleties of this great sport. However, seeing as you are only an ignorant Yank, this task would demand a teacher more awake (it's 1.30AM) and less depressed (I hate ManU!) than me . |

Well...i Hate both MaU and Bayern...and i don't know if i should jump from joy or be nervous...but i just loved the Germans crying ath the end...it was so satisfactory...But i have to say that MaU didn't deserve this title...at least at this match...Bayern was better...but who gives a crap anyway...they suck Alot. As I hate both clubs, I didn't really know what to do while watching this match. I don't like the fact that ManU won the title, but I wouldn't have liked it if Bayern had taken it, either. They always seem so stuck up and conservative and I do not care much for the German style of football. So all in all a really depressing day . |

Well, not being a a typical limeywhingeypommiebastard ManU supporter, I have to say "Damn, we were lucky". Bayern definately deserved the win more than we did, but ont he other hand, the game does last for the full 90, em, 93 minutes. But I'll say that we sure did deserve this title. Beating both Inter and Juve in the quarters and semis were both marvellous examples of that British "never say die, even if we're getting the crud kicked out of us" attitude. Heck, even qualifying from a group which included Bayern, Barcelona and Brondby (who have knocked us out before) was a great effort. Not to mention, doing it all undefeated in all competitions since November '98, and in all Champion's League games. Didn't deserve it indeed... Oh, Jsorense, just think of it as the World Series (read baseball) of European Club Soccer. Only other countries can actually compete... |

It was luckily won, and if Bolton go up I will not begrudge them one iota of success. John III |

What a game, I'm not a ManU fan but I think they deserved to win. What an ending! This is fairy tale football. Sweet Sherry got that equaliser and we'd barely stopped jumping around the room when the baby faced assassin taps in another corner from SuperBecks. The conversation basically went like this. Commentator: A corner in the last minute Manchester United always score from these. My front room in unison: I can't believe he said that! Me: Talk about the commentator putting the kiss of death on them. Whole house explodes into jumping cheering frenzy as Sheringham scores from a Beckham corner. Even Steve who has been sulking about ManU spanking Newcastle in the FA cup all game and claiming he doesn't want them to win is pogoing like a madman. Me: I can't believe it hasn't been disallowed. (not because I thought it should be but it was just so unbelievable) Phil: Come on SuperBecks! We've got 30 minutes of golden goal football! Commentator: and they've got another corner. Me: Oh my god they're going to win it. Corner from SuperBecks onto Sheringham's head nods it down to Solksjaer. GOAL! This time the jumping round the room is slightly more subdued as we can't believe what we are seeing. The Bayern players start to cry. I feel a bit sorry for them. What a game. When ManU really started pushing forwards at the end the Germans should really have scored again but a couple of great saves from Schmeical and Johnny Woodwork and we were still in it. I can't believe how many times ManU win in the last seconds. They did exactly the same thing to Liverpool in the FA cup. I think they do it on purpose. As Alex Ferguson said "I can't believe it. Football. Bloody hell" I couldn't put it better myself. |

A weird game... did they hire a hollywood writer for that script ? It's somewhere between strange, bizarre and utterly unbelievable... BTW, I didn't care which of the two clubs would win. All my sympathies for our Bavarian Brothers, Sisters, Cousins or whatever, but rather 1860 than Bayern! |

I think they must have done. BTW. Carsten Janker!? He's a bit big isn't he? |

Someone just sent me this "...an e-mail I just got from a friend in Munich quoting the German commentators last night at 90th minute: "- Die Englnder verlieren immer, tolle Leistung von Bayern, sie haben es wirklich verdient!" Translation according to Altavista: "the Englishmen always lose, great result for Bayern, they really earned it !" " Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Eat my penalty shootout semi-final misery revenge and don't rule the English team out until the final whistle goes! English teams play for the full 93 minutes! |

I can't believe it: a reasonable translation from Altavista ? I think this is a fake! Most german commentators are really annoying. I usually prefer our austrian commentators - they are just silly and may provide for a good laugh... BTW, Mike: Oh well. When he played for Rapid Vienna, they often called him "the tank"... |

The commentators yesterday claimed he was a "perfect physical specimen" which I thought was a bit of a dodgy comment considering the German experiments in WW2. |

Three posts in a row. Read this for all the quotes at a glance. I particularly like: Former England manager Terry Venables: "People have said it's unbelievable. That word is used too frequently, too easily - but that was unbelievable. |

Arrgh! I hate TV3! I don't have cable or a satelite dish, so I had to watch the game at the pub, and couldnt really see much of what was happening. |

Janker did hit the floor a bit quickly, I'm sure he is strong enough to stay on his feet. Plus he did turn so that he had his back to the tackle at the last minute. |

From a Norwegian newspaper's (Verdens Gang or VG) TV column: "OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJR!!!!! Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr, Solskjr..."
