Which of the (so far) four movies did you enjoy the most?

I'd have to say A New Hope. I still remember the whole plot, all of the classic scenes, everything. It's really stuck in my mind like none of the others did.

The Empire Strikes Back. Return of the Jedi might have done it without the Ewoks (shudder).

Yeah, Empire is best. Cut the Ewoks and 5 minutes worth of alien dancers in Jabba the Hut's handwriting and Jedi might have been better. A New Hope is still a darn fine movie though. TPM definitely has the best special effects, and is probably better than Jedi, and definitely not as good as Empire... but where it stands with ANH is difficult. At the moment I'll have to give the edge to ANH.

Empire is my favorite because the plot is so good. I'd have to say that TPM is better than ANH and on par with Jedi.

"5 minutes worth of alien dancers in Jabba the Hut's handwriting"

What drugs was I on when I wrote that? Sandcrusier, or whatever it was. Handwriting?!?

"Return of the Jedi might have done it without the Ewoks"

All I have to say is, "Please mister Lucas, no 'Gungan Adventure' made for TV movie! Spare us the pain!".

Oh, And I think Empire is the best followed by the other three about even.

For me it is ANH. That is because all of the characters and technology (and special affects) were brand new. And Darth Vader's first entrance was soooo cool!

I have to go with Return of the Jedi. The biggest battle of them all! How can you not think having a land battle, space battle, and Jedi battle all at once is boring!?

ESB was pretty good, too. I'd say that the ending was kinda bad, just leaving you there with Luke on some spaceship with a mechanical hand.

Hmm. I'd have to rate TPM as the best, to tell you the truth. It's really interesting to see the Senate and how Palpatine rose to become the Emporer. I've read about it in the books, but it'll be nice to see it unfold.

The Empire Strikes Back is the best--began introducing the mythos of Star Wars
Then A New Hope--a wahoo stand alone space movie.
The Phantom Menace--it's hard to come up with a good prequel to tie in what has come after. But ye Gods, Jar Jar was annoying!
Return of the Jedi blew chunks IMO. The plot was a rehash of the original. They even came up with another Death Star!

I would have to say "The Return of the Jedi" is my favourite. Being only fifteen years old, however, I can only look upon the movies in retrospect, and I cannot tell, for instance, the 'revolutionary' impact that ANH had on the movie world. I liked them all, but the Return of the Jedi was the culmination of the epic that left the audience with a peace and satisfaction that ESB--the interregnum--did not have. I also see it as the culmination of John Williams' musical efforts throughout the movie. I found it rather interesting that in the Phantom Menace, John Williams went backwards in his musical development. When the Federation was landing on the Naboo homeworld, for instance, I could not help noticing that the first two notes of the musical score that was played was the same as that of the first two trumpet notes of the imperial march. Depending on what he does in the next two movies, this can be either good or bad.

Empire Stikes Back is definately the best. It was a little darker than the other 3. The first 3 episodes Lucas was supposed to make darker but then went to appease the little kids for marketing purposes. It was nice to see the empire kick a little rebel ass. If only Darth Vader sliced and diced luke better we wouldn't had to suffer throught the ewoks.

I have finally seen all 4, and I must say that A New Hope is still my favorite Star Wars movie. The line, "the force is with you Luke...always" still sticks in my head.

Exactly. I don't even remember Empire's plot properly, while I recall every stupid twist of A New Hope.

"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last."

"That's no moon!"

"Use the Force, Luke."

etc.

The only line I remeber from Empire is "No. There is another."

You mean to say you can't remember that Imperial choking in the background. Or the Battle of Hoth?

And I still don't remember how Luke got to cloud city.

Hmmm... memorable lines from Star Wars movies. This could take awhile.

ANH: Every 3rd line.

Empire: (Darth Vader choking 2.5 admirals)
"Do or do not. There is not try."
"No. There is another." (already mentioned)
Yoda-constructs (Forum member you are.)
"...And I've just signed a deal that will keep the Empire out of here forever-" (Door opens. Han blasts at Darth Vader. DV blocks and steals Han's gun. Great moment.)
"It's a trap!"
"Impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well."
"Luke... I AM your father." (Shame on you HR for forgetting that one!)
"Noooooo!" (damnit Luke, Imperial stormtroopers don't jump down bottomless shafts screaming when confronted by bad news.)
"They'll be in tractor beam range within moments.... Okay, fire up the tractor beam. Okay, we're starting it now. Hey, Vader, what were we doing again?" (by this time the Millenium Falcon blasts off)

Jedi: "The Emperor does not share your optomism.... I hope for your sake you do, commander, for the Emperor is not as forgiving as I." (Perfectly introduces Darth Vader as not just THE bad guy as in previous episodes, but as in there's someone worse)
Han: "So, how are things going?" Luke: "Same as always." Han: "That bad, eh?"

TPM (still only one viewing for me): "We will watch your career with great interest." (Muahaha.)
"You refer to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the Force?" (Ding-Ding, Qui-Gon? Hello? Anything sound BAD about that?)
"Jedi Knight you are."
"You were right, master. The negotiations were short."
"Anakin! Wait! Don't be trained! You'll turn into an evil servant of the Sith and will terroize the Republic and your son!"

Valtyr: Ah, a comrade in arms against the Star Wars onslaught... It's not that I utterly detest the movies (they would've been about as amusing as Indiana Jones if not for the damn preaching), but hey, they're certainly not that good!

Anyway, I just noticed you're living in the same city as myself! Brrrgen!! Yadda yadda yadda. I usually hang out at Kvarteret, Garage, Hulen or Miles Ahead, so step by to say hi sometime...

DCA,

I liked the first Dune and Foundation novels...wait, were we talking about Star Wars? Sorry, it's so easy to get them confused.
I think that A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back were equally good, and were both far better than Return of the Jedi. That one would have been better off without the muppets.
The only thing that saved TFM was the FX. Everything but the special effects sucked.
