Have you seen it and did you like it?

I'd like to hear fellow SMACer's opinions.

A good, exciting movie with tons of great special effects. But not a great movie. Why isn't it great? These are my thoughts.

1. No memorable lines. I don't really like "I'll be back" type tag lines, but a few memorable bits of dialogue would have been nice. The only line I can remember off-hand is "You were right about one thing, Master. The negotiations were brief." Other than that I can't think of any lines that stand out.

2. No emotion. Did anybody in PM show any real emotion? All I can think of was Obi-wan during the fight scene. Sure, the Jedis should be impassive most of the time. But everyone was pretty cool throughout the whole movie. A little more drama would have been better.

3. Did Lucas really need to cut between three seperate battle sequences at the end? Two is generally more than enough and I think one unified sequence generally has more dramatic impact. A/B cross-cutting is a regrettable fact of life in modern visual media, but A/B/C cross-cutting is going too far. But I guess it still works OK in PM. A minor point.

Well, that's my critical judgement. But don't take it too seriously. I still enjoyed the film quite a bit and I plan to see it again soon.

Actually, it was FOUR diffrent battle scequences at the end, the space fight, the Gungan/Battle Droid fight, the lightsabre fight and the hallway shootout.

Just thought I'd point that out.......

I thought the plot was pretty good, the special effects were awesome, but the the acting left much to be desired. The boy who played Anakin Skywalker, (I can't remember his name,) was especially bad.

A worthy prequel, but not an incredible movie. Good story, but not the best. Great special effects. It would have been better if the story line wasn't printed in every magazine in sight. Make sure you see it in a theater with a great sound system though. I saw it opening day and it is definately better with the sound up so loud you can fell it in your teeth. God I love that feeling. It was so loud that I was shaking in my seat.

Umbra's is too wide. So I ressurected this one from a few days ago.

I stand corrected. Four different battle scenes. Too many.

Not the first time I've had that comment

it stinks !
A nice cuddly movie done only for kids, to make Lucas obscenely rich through gigabucks of merchandising.

A better SciFi miovie (Star Wars is a classical fairy tale really) The Matrix !

imho, please don't hurt me

Ok, I finally got to see it this morning. Man, it's a blast! Why do people have to over analyze everything these days? Why can't you just go in a theater and have some fun?

My favorite scenes:

* Pod Racing. Just look at the size of the engines! If that can't get your adrenaline to rush, I don't know what will.

* Battle Droid Deployment. That scene is awesome! If only I had an army like that in SMAC...

Valtyr: Congratulations, now we will have to go back to Umbra's thread. All the posts are now spread out and really, really annoying to read.

Please, use some spaces in the future! This problem has been around for EVER and it never seems to get solved!

In any case, there were a few good lines, though not as many as Star Wars or Empire. "We watch your career with great interest," "Credits will be fine- Who do you think you are, a Jedi or something?" "Communications disruption can mean only one thing- invasion" "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to something, something leads to something, and something leads to suffering..." "A Jedi Knight you are" "Noooo!" etc.
