A little extreme - kill of Slobbo. The UK doesn't have that pesky order about not killing foreign heads of state |

Killing Slobodan Milosevic wont solve anything, there would just come another to take his place. Regarding Kosovo its my firm opinion that the people of Kosovo should be allowed to decide on their own future, without interference from Washington as well as Belgrade.Bishop |

I don't think we should be in Kosovo, we have no right to get involved is a civil war. We are going after Serbia because they are not playing nice to America. Where was NATO when Turkey was butchering the Kurds? Or Rwanda? Or Tibet? Or Sudan? Millions die in genocide and we don't lift a finger to help and 2,000 die in a civil war and we send in the planes? This is not a centuries-old problem, this began in the early days of this century as a result of the West playing map-maker. Any comments? |

I suspect all the comments on that have been made already.Just because we don't get involved to stop every evil act this is not a reason not to ever do so. Two reasons why we might not act is that we don't have resources to be involved every time, and some atrocities are committed by states that are so powerful we couldn't make a difference if we did get involved militarily. Therefore we choose between the potential arenas using the "Can we get public support" and "What's in it for us" criteria. This is not fair, nor ideal, but it is human. We have to use something to select on. Yes there are a lot of old grievances, regardless of whether it is centuries old or the beginning of this one. We are at the end of this one now. The civilised action is to work from where we are, rather than continue vendettas forever, based on past action. This regardless of the excuses for the ill feeling. |
