well, ok, not quite...

I just found out that Creative has made a API/wrapper that lets Glide only games run on their Direct3D cards. Hurray ! Finally I won't need a 3dfx card to run all those flight sims (providing I actually ugrade my system with a 3d card somehow a K6 166, with a Virge doesn't cut it these days)

Gamers rejoyce
but, still, read a bit of Joyce as well... har har har

Just out of curiosity, when exactly did a Virge cut it?

Are there any Glide only games anymore? And I wouldn't get too excited about a wrapper anyway. They rarely work as advertised.

well.. uhhmm.. no the Virge never did cut it, but it was half decent for 2D only stuff (SMAC).

there are only a few new games being glide only, but quite a handfull of the old games were made only for glide.

- I-war
- EF2000 (also included support for rendition)
- Longbow
- Longbow 2 (later supported more accelators)

those are the only ones that come to mind right now.

appearantly the wrapper looses about 5 - 10% performance... but for those old games that should be no problem, and the newer ones either support OpenGL or D3D.
