Author Topic:   How to make SMAC be Russian?

I bought a copy of the SMAC in Russian. It was OK. But when I have patched it with the English Patch version 4.0 (smacp4e.exe) it ceased to understand the Russian encoding and started to write bull**** in the dialog windows.
So can anyone help me to fix the bug, please? I run it under WinNT 5.0.
P.S. It's OK to me to play SMAC in English, but I would prefer to use my Russian interface.

Hi Ekeke,
I'm from Italy and as you I've got the problem that no patch was released in my language. You have 4 options:
1- reinstall your game and forget the patch (until it will be released in your language, but I don't know if someone will do it, as for italian one).
2- keep the game as it is: some sentence in english, others in russian
3- translate in russian the sentence you find in file *.txt of the patch (but it's a long job and I'm not sure it will work...)
4- have the game completely in english, making some friends send you the file that differs between english and russian version.
However if your situation is as mine, I think that italian and russian people have been quite forgotten dy Firaxis...

I understand your advice. But the problem is not as complicated as it is appears to be. I think that stupid program cannot correctly deal with the unicode fonts Arial Narrow.
Of course, if I weren't need the facking patch, I would keep playing my original program, but the patch brought some interesting things like the Manifold Nexus as well as accelerated the game that was very slow before it had been patched.
