HELP!!!!!!!!!! This is getting really annoying. Since update 2 it's been hell. But now with version 4 i can't play for 1 minute without a stack dump. I've got an Amd k6 -233 Not overclocked. 96 mb SDram viper 550 8mb AGP SB AWE32 ISA (first version) VIA apollo MVP3 chipset. My swapfile is fixed 1.2 GB big.Alphacentauri.ini (first part) ds3d=0 eax=0 FastUnitAnim=0 SmoothUnitAnim=0 Setting grapicsacceleration to 0 didn't help a bit. Please help me Firaxis. The problem seems to be the Nvidia Rive chipset (but when I still had a viper 330 4mb PCI setting acceleration to 0 did work with version 3). Juggler

It might be a heat problem. Try removing the systems case, and even put a fan blowing into it. If the crash doesn't occur, you may need a new system fan. I think that v550 is a TNT card, which can have problems with the movie player. It usually will die on the intro movie however, so if you're making it beyond that, I think the heat problem is the likely perpitrator.jkm firaxis games |

Yes indeed it's a TNT chipset. The movies aren't the problem. It crashes when i start a new game. Didn't have these problems with version 3 installed (same videocard). Maybe there's a new problem with windows 98 SE. I've just recently upgraded to this edition.I already have an extra fan. But since the AMD k6-233 is quite a furness I'll try it with the case off (but I don't think it's a heat problem). Thanx for the reply. Juggler |
