I just picked up the game today, and I'm having problems getting it to start. When I attempt to start the game, I get returned to the desktop. I tried each of the 3 suggestions in the troubleshooting guide, and none worked. My system specs are: 350p2. 64mb memory, over 5gigs of free space, and a monster fusion agp video card. Any help would be appreciated, because I'm played this game before and I think it's absolutely fantastic.

It sounds like you might not have your monitor set correctly. Can you manually set your windows desktop to either 800x600x8bit or 1024x768x8bit (256 colors)? If not, the monitor type is probably set to standard vga. If you can change the resolution, and this is a european version of the game, you might be encountering a conflict with the copy protection. Download and apply the appropriate v4 patch, which will solve that problem.

I tried your suggestions, and it still won't work. I re-installed directX6, downloaded the newest drivers for my video card, yet nothing changes. I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking of returning the game, so is there anything else I should try?

So you were able to set your desktop resolution to one of those I listed? You applied v4? Provide me the details of your system. Also, what exactly happens when you run the game?
