Hey, we're still at 2.0 patch!
What happens?

It's up to CTO to translate the patch and from what Morris said it should be sent back to Firaxis in a few days or so.
I'm looking forward to play some PBEM games but if V4 will slow down my PC to a crawl (as someone already reported) i think i'll stick with V2 (i already told Morris what i think of the way God Reynold has coded this game.....guys, i got bored to hear that making an optimised game nowdays would take ages and no company could effort that).
Morris....next time find a serious italian company for translating your games......in case you didn't know they didn't do a good job at all; if you wanna know more about just ask me (damn, i wanted my english copy why hell didn't they distribute more of them over here?).

That's incrdible!I'm waiting too.Would it be possible to change form Italian to US version ?It seems the simpliest way,english is not a problem for italians who play multiplayer games

Yeah! I'd like to change to english version too, both for the horrible translations and the availability of patches!
BTW, anyone tried to install the english patch on the italian game? If the only problem I can get is mixing english and italian messages, I may have a go!

To GioVAX - Well, I'm italian too, but already own the english version of SMAC, so I can't test this, but I copy&past here a previus reply of MCEscher about this topic:

Beh, mi sono fatto anche spedire il resto dei txt e ora gioco la versione inglese.
Mi hanno gi� contattato 3 compaes� e non ho problemi a spedire il pack a chiunque me lo chieda [email protected]
BTW, assicuratevi di scompattare il patch inglese su una dir vuota...e poi copiateli nella vostra SMAC dir. Questo perch� l'autoscompattante trova alcuni "read only" file e non li sovrascrive.

It's a shame.
FireAxis you have made a great game. But with this delay for ITALIAN 4.0 patch you are encouraging piracy! Instead of buying the italian version (2.0 updated) as I have done, probably it could be better to obtain in some 'unofficial' way the English version! By the way, CTO made a terrible job when translating the game: for example 'patto sorella' for 'Sister Pact' or, again, gender mismatch for Lady Deirde (article: male, name: male). Really disgusting !!!!

OK, my english is terrible but now I take my italian version of SMAC (2.0 obviously)and throw it as far as i can. (I like multiplayer games but with 2.0 is impossible to play) After that, I take the "unofficial" US version (4.0) by friends or internet and in the future I NEVER buy any game.....if great gaming house as Firaxis work so bad with others languages and with this delay ....piracy is the right solution

Once again.......i wouldn't blame Firaxes for the italian patch delay (if it'll never come out)...it's not up to them but CTO to translate the game. CTO did an awful job with it....we know that...but if you want to have your V4 version up and running all you have to do is to replace the terran.exe file with the one included in the V4 english patch (that's the same for any language...there's just one of it....don't you really think that Firaxis compiles an .exe for each and every version of the game do you?). Of course you might also want to put your hand on the latest version of the alpha.txt file and every other .txt file which got updated since the release of the V2. At this point you got 2 choices.....first you might translate the files on your own (instead of waiting for CTO to do it), second you could just copy the english files over the italian ones.
That's not piracy....i challenge Firaxes to sue me for that (or to ban me of course)

just to refresh this unresolved problem....I think Firaxis should be more esigent with CTO.....esigent is right?....bo......del resto ci sara' un motivo per cui vo' cercando la patch in italiano no?

As slow as Italian tanks in WW2.
That means really slow, Firaxis, help those Italians, v3.0 and v4.0 are a great, but not perfect enhancement!
