I have been getting this error a lot:

The unknown module indiciates that some other part of Windows (probably a driver) is failing. Start by downloading and installing dx 6.1 from www.microsoft.com/directx. Another common cause of this is running out of virtual memory, especially on large or huge maps. Make sure you've got plenty of HD space (200 megs+) on the c: drive (or wherever your swapfile resides), that space is defragged, and that windows is managing the swapfile size. If these suggestions don't work, please provide as much info about your system as you can, what you've explicitly already tried, and what the results of each of those were. Other details about what's going on at the time of the crash can sometimes help.
