I've experienced several energy market crashes when my reserve built up to around 6000. I usually use police/green/knowledge as my social models. Does anyone know what causes energy market crashes?

Per the strategy guide,it's a random event:"If base's faction has less than 1000 credits, its energy reserves are reduced by 75% (crash). If faction has more than 500 credits and is in fourth place or lower, his energy reserves are doubled (boom). Otherwise, there is no effect." This doesn't square with your report or my memory. I'd guess that the guide switched the "more than" with the "less than". This would mean that any time you accumulate more than 1000 energy credits, you are at risk of losing three quarters of them. Only thing you can do about it is to turn off random events. |

Yes I found this random effect a particularly annoying one. You save up for "a rainy day" and someone comes along and steals your cash Anyway, I'm not trading with those other factions so I think I'll take complete control and insist to my people that my money still has the same value. Now where's the missing cash ! Hmmph ! |

crashes are a bummer, but there are several things you can do: 1. invest cash into unit upgrades 2. contact particularly poor faction leaders, in the hope that they ask you for a loan. they always repay double or more than you lend, so it works out as an investment.how about off-planet banking? |
