Author Topic:   FIRAXIS: Can't install German 3.0 patch

...whew, the German 3.0 has finally arrived, downloaded it, doesn't work. Bummer. The patch prog aborts at 84% with an 'Old file not found' error; the last file that it supposedly worked on is 'concepts.txt', which is present. Anyone else had that problem? Am I doing something wrong? Oh, and yeah, I didn't delete any files whatsoever from the installation folder. Reinstalling didn't help, either.

Usually it's starting on the terran.exe at 84%. If that's the case, and it's hacking on terran.exe, it's probably the CIH virus. Check out www.pspl.com/download/cleancih.htm for info on the virus and a free cleaner. Remember to reboot to ms-dos before running the cleaner.

first of all, thanks for your speedy reply. However, no CIH virus here - I've just run the scan, no infected files were found (and no other viruses, either). As for processing terran.exe at 84%, I think that at the point where the patch aborts, terran has already been processed. The status line flashes by really quickly, but I'm pretty certain I saw terran.exe being processed, followed by tutor.sometingorother. As I said, when the programme stops, the status line says 'File processed: concepts.txt'. In the meantime, if tried the possible installation variants (install+3.0, install+2.0+3.0), to no avail. Is it possible that the patch file itself got corrupted during download? Its size is 3.592.192 bytes.

Hehe. It was the patch file itself; I downloaded it again, and presto, it worked. Ya-HOOOO - transatlantic MP games, here I come...

My file is 3.590.927 too, but I had the same problem as Corvus Corax in the file "readme.txt". In had to copy the old readme.txt (v:1.0i) from the CD and it works..

Had the same problem, copied the concepts.txt from the CD. Didn't work. I try to download the patch again.
