mith: It probably will start (unless you have some kind of hardware problems), but believe me, it will run soooooo slowly that you'll end up wanting to shoot yourself. I tried for a while to run SMAC on a P133 with 40Mb and, even after turning off all animations, movies, sounds, everything, by the time it reached mid-game it was taking up to 15 minutes to play the AI turns. I gave up and bought a new computer!! Nell |

Mith, SMAC does run in a P-100 as I'm running it already in that machine. The only problema I'm having is the sound in the discoveries where the phrases are repeated two times. It may be slow but it is playable and, besides, that's the only speed I know so I'm not missing anything :-) I'll say, give it a shot. |

I am currently running on a P133 with only 1 meg of VRAM and 80 meg of EDO RAM and with animations and music off it actually runs decent (Extra system RAM does help!!) ..ridiculous, but basically a fungi....

wickedwombat--for reasons I won't explain here, I'll bet one of the following:(a) If your system has 256k L2 cache, SMAC would run faster with only 32 MB; (b) If your system has 512k L2 cache, SMAC would run faster with only 64 MB; Strange but, I believe, true. Lloyd |

It is sure possible to play on less than a P-133, I for once play it on a 100 MHz 486 and still enjoy the game (although it IS nicer on a faster PC) |
