You know the ones. I want a straight answer. Are they broken? I think so. Why shouldn't this be fixed? It may be minor, but it's just plain sloppiness.

Just wondering if anybody has thought about why the wrong explosion graphics are used during combat. |

Hi trippin' You're the only one who ever listens to me rant about the explosions. Please tell me that I'm right. You've seen it, too. Let's all make a stand for this together. |

I'd like to complain about the graphics set used during combat. The differing explosions are set to be selected according to the defender's weapon rather than the attacker. This is obviously wrong. Please fix. |

Maybe I could help answer your questions, if I knew what they were. What is wrong? |

Hurrah, somebody is listening to me. OK, here's how to reproduce the bug: (You can use the scenario editor to create the units you need, or just watch as you play a game, since this sort of thing happens all the time.)Experiment 1) Take a (1/1/1) unit and a (1/2/1) unit and have them attack one another. Result: They both have the orange-type explosions. Inference: Explosion type is NOT based on armor type. If it were, the explosions would be different. Inference 2: Explosion type IS based on weapon type. Level 1 weapons generate orange-type explosions. Experiment 2) Take a (1/4/1) unit and a (4/1/1) unit and have them attack one another. Result: The (1/4/1) unit takes orange-type explosions and the (4/1/1) unit takes blue sparkly explosions. Inference: The orange-type explosions (caused by level 1 weapons as we saw above) are appearing on the (1/4/1) unit. Buh??? Are the units shooting themselves or what? Analysis: It seems obvious that the blue sparkly explosions should appear on the things being SHOT by the particle impactor rather than on the unit USING it. This looks even more silly when my Shard Penetrators take massive green explosions while inflicting the same measly level 1 type explosions on base defenders. Conclusion: The code selecting which explosions to use on which unit is broken. Conclusion 2: It should be fixed. |

>>>>> Xerxes314Well ... looks like you found a problem. But I wouldn't be seeing "red" about it. Nor would I hold my breath (until I turn "blue") waiting for it to be fixed. And when I'm done, maybe I'll have a slice of that Pi. Good catch Xerxes, hopefully Firaxis will fix it. SMAC n ... Ted S. |
