that's right... music doesn't play at all during the game. the sound works fine, it sutters just sometimes, rarely, but music doesn't play all!

I have tried both the release CD install and the 3.0 patch install, and they both don't play music.

My system, if it helps:

Celeron 464A
Windows 98
DirectX 6.1
SBLive! value, with the latest drivers
Riva TNT, with reference detonator drivers
64Megs RAM
plenty of swap space (400+ Mb)

I tried to switch off EAX and DS3D, but the music still didn't play

on a side note, on NT4 (I use 98 just for games), when I run SMAC, the music doesn't play either, and the sound sutters (but that's a known problem with NT4 Dsound)
