I can't install patch 3, but that doesn't it bother me much, since the current version of the game has no major problems. Anyway, I'm working on the SMAC editor which enables you to load alpha.txt file and change all the values in the file. Well, here is my question, is v1.0 of SMAC's alpha.txt different from v3.0 of SMAC? If so, could anyone send me the file? (alpha.txt from version 3). If you want me to, I'll include a "special thanks" message in the editor for sending me the file.
