I can't patch my game. Tried it more than ten times. It tells me the following: "Patch Error. Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file content do not match". My computer is free of virus. I just formatted all my drives, and reinstalled all my programs. How do I fix it? Sephiroth. |

If it's the terran.exe file it's hanging on, you either have the wrong version of the patch (Make sure you've got the US for the US, Uk for Uk, etc.) or a virus. You can check and eliminate the CIH virus (a common cause of this problem) by visiting www.pspl.com/download/cleancih.htm. If it's a text/pcx file, it either the wrong patch or you've modified that file from it's original condition. Reinstall the game. jkm firaxis games |

I still have the problem (terran.exe). I run the virus check (CIH), it found some virus and removed them succesfully from my drives. I purchased the game in Canada, so I know I have the U.S. version. |

Guys: Thought I would join this thread as I am having all the same problems and getting all the same "its a virus answer". Like you I know it is not a virus. Jeffrey Morris FIRAXIS seems to be hooked on this as the only solution. Lets work togeather to see if we can convince him that it maybe something else. I am totally at a loss as what to do from here or where to go for the help I need. |

Update: I downloaded the Anti Virus (CIH) as well as the evaluation copy of the entire program. I ran the CleanCIH program and found no viruses. I then ran the Eval program on both partitions of my HD, and again, found no viruses. I tried to run the SMAC 3.0 patch and was told that 'the OLD file cannot be found'. Should I try completly re-installing Alpha Centuri? Roger Dodger |

I'm meeting the same problem with updating. Maybe a list of where patches can be found for the different languages could be handy? Right now i just downloaded the patch r3 and tried toi run it. But it was mentioned nowhere for which language is was developed. As to now i'm still not able to even run this game and have to say that never in my gamers life have i seen such a troublesome game! |

I can't install the patch either. I just get the usual message about an old version of a .txt file - not terran.exe. I've tested for viruses with NAV and Macafee and no way have I touched any of the game files. I can run the UK release version and love the game, but I think we're being fobbed off with this stuff about viruses. |

I suggest the virus solution because it often works. If not for you, what can I say. Other things to try are to reinstall (especially if it's a text file that's hanging) and ensuring you're using the correct version of the patch. jkm firaxis games |
