I was getting an occasional error as noted above. I upgraded to version 3 today to try to help the problem. It did help, now I can't even get into the gameplay - I get the error trying to start or load a game. I did a clean boot before trying to play - so all the machine resources were available.

HELP!

I had this problem too for a bit.

There wasn't enough room for the swap file, so I set the swap file allocation to automatic and cleared space on the C drive to about equal to RAM size.

This didn't pop up until late in the game when there were lots of cities and units.

I figured it out.. for the moment. Based on another post, I checked my free hard disk space. It was about 320MB. I thought that would be plenty. I cleared it out to about 425MB and the error has gone away.

Seems weird to me that you need so much hard disk space for running. I have a 64MB RAM system, so 320MB hard disk space (which didn't work) was 5 times the main memory space.
