I have a P133 32MRAM S3 2M video card which does not support DirectX. The demo runs just fine. I just wasted 79A$ on CTP, I do not want to repeat it.

You got the demo to run without directX ? Are you sure ? I think the demo worked with directX 5 on my PC, but I'm not sure about that...The full game needs support for the videos, so I can't imagine it would run without directX 6. Also, I had to set "directdraw=0" in alphacentauri.ini for the videos. No idea why, and they hid that information in some txt-file... very annoying. Another thing: I've the full game running on a P400, 128MB PC, and on my P233, 32MB laptop. On the laptop, it is a lot slower and "stuttering" sometimes. I think with 32MB RAM _AND_ a slower processor, it would run, but you might not really enjoy the game...

I got the game working fine on my Cyrix 133+ with 16megs of ram, but my audio and video supported dX. The game was horribly slow and I swapped more then I played..But damnit, it was fun.. =] |

u may have to use a smaller map size, with less land.. cause i find that can drag out the time between turns a whole lot.. i play on a p200.. and i find huge r even large maps with lots of land start to take far to much time after 50-75 turns... Then again that maybe due to direct x drivers eating up my memory -good ole microsoft, don't ya love em' so u should be able to run it.. just keep the maps scaled down a bit |

At least it's not like our US dollars. They're just multi shades of green. |
