I have a celeron300A, 64 ram, SiS video card and no 3d acceleration card.

My sound card is SB16 audo device by C-Media 8330.

Before I installed the 3.0 patch everything worked fine but now EVERY time I aquire new tecnology, the game crashes with "Terran.exe blah blah at sound.dll"
I saw some other posts with AWE32/64 having the same problem, though my sound card is by C-Media 8330 and is SB16.
I dont want to have to disable the sound since the game wouldnt be any fun without it.

The 3.0 patch contains too many AI improvements to simply ignore and go back to playing the original.. Since I dont play online, I have to play with computer players and its easy to notice they're glitches.

Any help to fix this problem without having to lose sound? Since I dont have daily internet access I cant check my email everyday and so I grow impatient waiting for a solution to this sound.dll problem..

Try setting DS3D and EAX to 0 in your SMAC INI file and see if that fixes it..
