Something strange happened to me during my game last night. I was playing the University on Talent level (standard map of Planet). I�m sharing a continent with Deirdre.
All goes well, and at some point she really likes me (I was Green) and I ask her if she would give me one of her bases, in the name of our Friendship and all. And she did . So here I am, proud new owner of "Lily of the Valley".
Years pass by, she gets tired of our pact and declares war on me (I kicked her a**, but that�s another story). My cities develop, and I build the Virtual World in Lily of the Valley (d*mn these drones). Well, that�s when I realized something went wrong.
One of the advantages of being UoP, is to have a Network Node in every city, so when you have the VW, all of your cities receive a Holo Theatre, right ? Well, it appears that when Deirdre gave me her city, the citizen "forgot" to build the NetNode. It took me a while to figure out why I still had drones in that city... I had to actually *build* the NetNode.
I kept a savegame for you guys at Firaxis, if you need it just let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you.

i have noticed the same thing. what i have noticed, is that when you extort a base, you don't get your free building. the only time you get it is when you either take the base by force, or you trade base for base. when buying a base, being given a base, or forced surrender of a base, you don't get the free building. why? i have no idea.
