I'm having the same problem as many other users here (message reguarding "Old file not found, however a file w/ the same name was found...etc). My install stops on the terran.exe file. I've scanned for viruses and ran the installation off the CD several times to insure a clean install - yet nothing works. Can somebody offer some real help instead of the generic "scan your HD for Virus...and things should work.." tag line. Thanks

Make sure you're using the UK v2.0 patch if you've got the UK and the US v3.0 patch if you've got the US. Check the EA Technical Support Help File to see which you have if you're uncertain (it states UK if it is, and nothing if it's the US).
