Even with version 2.0 or 3.0, theres still a couple of instances where playing the game multiplayer with ipx directplay will crash on you. Not having a save game feature for this type of gameplay does not make crashes a very positive thing either. So that you can hopefully figure out whats wrong, here are the errors ive encoutered: For some reason very rarely, maybe once every 4 or so hours of playing an error window will come up saying there is something wrong with the "terrain.exe" file and crashes the system it came up on, host or guest. This usually occurs when doing some event greater than simply moving your units. It happened twice when getting new tech, and once when disbanding a unit. Another problem that happened to me twice is when a human player talks to a computer player. Sometimes his/her screen will come up offering or talking about whatever they are discussing, but then when you hit accept, or continue or "ok", or whatever, nothing happens. The game just sits there. You cant operate any other menus, or close the diplomacy one, forcing you to restart. I hope some of this info can be helpful if trying to fix them. Also one fix that would alleviate any of these hardships would be to simply put a save game feature for ipx directplay. Then no matter where u crashed you could autoreload it last turn. Or,, is there a save game feature in ipx directplay for it, and im not seeing it? Thanks.
