Just checked gamespot.com and the patch is out. Go check it out and read the new enhancements and bug fixes (we hope).

There is a very good post on The Game forum which breaks out the readme file for the new patch. Read it carefully as it is very detailed (and good news).

Gamespot have been running an Alpha Centauri week with little blurbs written by some from the Firaxis team. Scarcely useful information to me except from the University Faction guide, but I guess they struck a deal that gives Gamespot the privilige of hosting solely hosting the patch for a time. They should have told so on their webpage, last news item being "Patch 2.0 available"

Errr... that's the US version of 3.0 right? Cause I couldn't see any hint for which version that file applies. Well right now I'm d/l it and the file name is smacp3us.exe so I guess I have to wait a week for the german one, but I fetch it anyways just to browse through the readme... <g>
Firaxis: Big increase in version number. If you keep up with this Microsoft strategie, next patch will be SMAC v95 :-)

Patch 3.0 US VERSION ONLY!!!! WHEN WILL THEY LEARN!!!! How long this time for a UK version, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year!!!!!!
Better fix the fricking copyprotection (WHY ADD SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!)
Please firaxis REMOVE that mega super irritating fricking copy protection so that we non US-version buyers don't have to wait for out patches!! I bought the game, I deserve the same support as US customers!!!!

My understanding (no promises yet, but this is what I've been told) is that the UK/French/German v3.0 patch will remove the copy protection. Only hitch is the wait until the separate patch versions are tested.
