Don't work together. (sometimes I listen to MP3s in the background while I play games like Starcraft and whatever).
WinAmp was running before SMAC, and SMAC died before the Firaxis logo on a "DirectDraw" error. Weird, since Winamp was running minimized.
SMAC runs absolutely AOK (both 1.0 and 2.0) on both of the win98 machines I've built provided nothing else is running, so I have begun testing.

I have no problems running WinAmp and AC other than I can not interact with WinAmp after AC is started. I can ALT-TAB to the application but cannot click anything. I suspect that this has to do with the problem of me running my desktop in 1280x1024 which SMAC can't handle.

Have you tried just pressing the windows key to bring up the start menu, then click on the Winamp tab? I have been able to have my ISP connection, ICQ, Netscape, IE, and SMAC all up, and switch between them, but had to use the windows key to back to windows from SMAC to make the others look right.

Weird - I thought that it was simply normal (especially since SMAC uses MP3s as the voices and stuff). Any plugins running on the winamp? I had vis_satan.dll (Sexy Attached Analyzers) as the configured plugin, but the winamp was minimized to next to the clock. Any plugins, stick figure?
I have met the windows key, and I'm going to see what goes on if I start the winamp after SMAC.
