Version 2.0

. the messaging system is poor. the "waiting to resolve on other
computers" should be an icon in a corner and not text. the text
occurs too often in internet play. with many people chat is lost in
all of the other "resolve" text. granted it is *there*... perhaps
a button inbetween the "M" and the "I" in the bottom-center control
window should have a "C" button which accesses the chat buffer.

back to the "resolving last movement". why give control to the
player if the last move has not been resolved? several times I have
mistakenly thought I had moved a unit from a stack into either
a) another stack or b) a city. I hadn't. I just didn't see the
"waiting to resolve" message.

. we had an application error in terran.exe. the host was trying to
pause the game (bksp wasn't working) and presumeable was clicking on
the time controls button. I hit CTRL-C to talk to him and it cored.
I don't know if it was CTRL-C or something on his end.

. it is virtually impossible to get a multiplayer game loaded. it
randomly assigns colors to players, you can't easily switch to your
color (especially if someone has it selected). it would be impossible
to restart a seven player multiplayer game because no one could get
the correct civ from one another.

hrm, we restarted AC and everyting worked. if the game is set to
multiplayer *before* others arrived, it seems to work okay.

. multiplayer automatically designs units for you even if you have
that option disabled under the preferences.

another hour has passed and boy do I HATE automatic creation of
units. I seriously hope this is changed for the next patch.

Let me jump on this bandwagon too. I HATE the automatic unit creation in multiplayer being forced on. PLEASE let us turn this off in the next patch. I'll decide which special abilities I want on my 8-4-1 Chaos Invaders, I don't need 20 different varieties cluttering up my city build screens... And while we're on the subject, why is it that the retire design function only works sometimes? And sometimes when it works, the design comes back on the next turn!

From my previous post:

hrm, we restarted AC and everyting worked. if the game is set to multiplayer *before* others arrived, it seems to work okay.
---

I meant to say that if the host had loaded the saved multiplayer game *before* the others join, it worked. We have yet to try again... so, with 1 test case don't hold it as the gospel.

As for the IPX... nope. We play on TCP/IP. Though I suspect IPX would see the same sorts of problems.

Cheers,
stick
