Is it me or do supply crawlers get stuck in the field? I build some supply crawlers and tried to let them run on auto but it does not run from one base to an other it just gets stuck at some point (coastel/water) in the map. Nor do they (or any other unit for this mather) take the shortets route from 1 point to an other.

Isn't that what they're supposed to do?
They sit in one spot and provide resources from that spot to a city.

Well maybe but aren't they supposed to move to supply. I watch one of these thing sit in one place a 100 years.

from what I've seen they're just suppose to sit there and gather the resources you told it to. Check the home base of the supply crawler and you can see the amount of resources the crawler is giving you in the unit box (it apparently doesn't need a shield for upkeep either).

Actually there is upkeep. The cost is subtracted from the amount of minerals you bring in from the field.

If you want to see the upkeep, have the crawler bring in food or energy instead of minerals.

Of course, there might not be any upkeep because of your political choices. (i.e. you might be getting free support for your city.)

Take a supply crawler to another base ( manually ) you will then get the option to supply items ( min, energy, nut) from the supporting base.

Also take your supply crawler and stick on top of a square (one with improvements; bore holes work nicely ) within the city. This works well to help out the city especially if the city is small. As far as I can tell if you put one on a advanced inprovement (such as a bore hole) it doesn't count against Econ damage. So you can get that extra 6 mins out of it with out the worms ganging up on you.
