I've had several problems on several different computers, the sound stuttering being one of them.

On the only computer I'm getting sound stuttering, it's a PII 333 celeron with an ISA sound card. The board does have an agp slot, but none is being used.

other problems are the crashes (fault in TERRAN.EXE etc..) whenever I do a multitude of things:

-just moving units (biggest problem.. varying units in a variety of situations. crashes mostly on a P233 and PII300)
-initiating multiplayer discussions [this is over a LAN network IPX protocol]

hangs on occassion when attempting to initiate multiplayer negotiations with other players (must be a bad timing problem with the other players being "done" yet still doing things such as updating their units in the design units screen, or updating their base queues, etc.)

other problems I've encountered:

not being able to RETIRE units in the unit design screen due to "Based on Old Design" (but the old design is already retired... or the "old design" they're talking about isn't even remotely connected to the new design).

not being able to remove items off the queue list: The item currently in production is also in the queue. It can't be deleted, but replace seems to work. sometimes the queue even vanishes (all slots go to "empty") but hitting "cancel" seems to put back the queue.

the option to disable automatic new designs cannot be turned off in multiplayer (works fine in single player).

auto build base for formers seems to do absolutely nothing (they just run around in circles when roads are already built; they don't seem to build farms, collectors, mines, etc.)

--may not really be a bug.. but.. why in the world does the govenor build strong military units instead of needed buildings when it's set to "Build"?

--possible uneven game play: The Hive seems to be ALWAYS dominate since the patch was enabled (no ineffeciency is THAT good? might need to take that off...)


I must say, overall I think SMAC plays better WITHOUT the patch. (never crashed or hanged once although I'm unsure of the sound stutter w/out the patch on; I'll try that later). I haven't had many problems with single player, but this is mostly because I usually play multiplayer over a network.
