I was using my Drop Probes a lot (whee! These things are fun!) when i noticed that the 8 square limit didn't apply.I knew that Lal, my Pact Brother, had been working on it, so i had assumed that he had finished when I wasn't paying attention, and that I was also gaining the benefits. Nope. He hadn't finished, and it was still available on my lists... Very odd, but I'm certainly not complaining, even though it is a bug.. It's not a full pseudo-elevator though, no bonii on orbital installations.

Do you mean that you can make a single drop at nine squares or more? The computer hasn't let me do that. However, there is the multiple-drop bug, where you can `bounce' (drop the same unit repeatedly). I love this bug, because I can drop a troop on a pod, and if it has mindworms, I can drop out of there to the next pod, and so on, until my unit gets so battered by its successive landings that I have to send it back to a city. |

Zeo - an extension on bouncing: Drop your unit right next to an invader and attack the dude (make sure you have another unit to manually move afterwards). When the drop troop has attacked, focus will move to the next unit. Go back and reselect the drop troop. Airdrop it home. Best if done within drop range of a friendly city. |

About orbital-insertions...the book says...(pg.91) "Any unit with Drop Pods may make airdrops. Once you've discovered Graviton Theory or build the Space Elevator Secret Project, any unit with Drop Pods may make an orbital insertion." This through me off as well at first (all of a sudden I could hop to ANYWHERE!!), but then again I didn't bother to read much of the manual to begin with. (BTW...it's a LOT more useful a read -after- you know how to play the game...) I didn't know about the 'bouncing' thing though...nice bug! |
