when installing the patch, it halts at terran.exe and gives the following message:OldFile not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match. And then it ends, you can turn of the thing in options, so it continues but it still doesnt patch terran.exe so i cant use the new functions or the bug fixes. help please. - Gnorrath

Not a bug. Verify you're using the Full US version of the game. There isn't a patch for the demo, and the foreign version patches haven't been released yet. jkm firaxis games |

I hate to contradict you, but there _does_ seem to be some sort of problem. I'm quite sure I'm using the American retail CD (bought it at a Babbage's in Connecticut last week, like a copy of the receipt?) and I have the exact same problem. It patches every file before terran.exe just fine, but stops at that one with the error message "Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." Explorer lists the size of my terran.exe as 3,067,904 bytes and a date of 1/14/99 4:20pm.-Damian |

Problem solved. Updated the virus definitions tonight. Norton spontaneously found W95.CIH everywhere. Hides in unused portions of exe's so there's no change to the file size that would have tipped me off. At least it wasn't malicious. Drives cleaned, SMAC reinstalled, patch installed.-Damian |
