With the first demo, when I exited the game I had to reboot. The colors on the Win 95 screen were wacked out and the computer would crash.
1.1 of the demo did not have this problem. Both the CD-ROM version and the patch I just installed have this problem.
This isn't my computer, so I'm not sure what the graphics card is. The CPU is a K6 266 (my computer is a K5, I'm not even going to try running the game on it until I upgrade).
Why would the game be doing this, and why didn't v1.1 of the demo do it?

Run DXDiag.exe and look for "!", any notes that DON'T say no problem, and run the tests. Also, after exiting the program, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and make sure both alpha centauri and terran are not still running.
