I recently purchased a copy of Alpha Centauri, but it won't run properly. I think it may be because my system is running the Japanese version of Windows 98. Is there anything I can do? I have the English version of Civilization II, and it runs fine on this system.

Whenever I try to run it, it gives an "Illegal Operation Error." When I click the "Details" button, it gives the following information:
