I had been having the choppy sound problems in Alpha Centauri and several other games so I updated my audio drivers. I have the same Crystal SoundFusion chip/drivers that Snoman mentioned, though I have an Aptiva, not a Dell. (The drivers may be different because of the different computers, I don't know...) Anyway, this solved the problems until I installed the patch. Then I had sound for the intro movie, but nothing after that. Tried uninstall/reinstall, which worked until the patch. Finally, I manually edited the .ini file, and that did the trick. Just a quick thanks to Mr. Morris, and the other users here... fiddling with directX, patches, and drivers is rarely fun. But its even worse when you don't know which way is up. Thanks for the support! BTW, great game too. heh |
