Author Topic:   Installed Patch 2.0. Now sound does not work.

I have a Intell Pentium II 400 MHZ processer, 96 mb RAM, an Intel Virtual Sound Card, and I am running Windows 98. When running Version 1.0 of SMAC the game sound worked fine. I then installed the V2.0 patch and the game sound stoped working. The opening movie and sound still worked. I proceeded to reinstall the game from CD. The sound worked. I then reinstalled the patch. The sound did not work. I again reinstalled the game from CD. This time, I copied the sound.dll file to sound.dl. I installed the patch, but the sound did not work. I then copied the sound.dl file back to sound.dll. The sound worked, but when I move a unit to a supply pod, the game exited and I recieved the following error:
TERRAN caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:11cf62e8.

Partial version updates WILL crash the game. Reinstall from the CD, apply the patch, make sure that EAX and DS3D in the alpha centauri.ini file are set to 0.
