when me and my friend plays over an ipx network, everything runs fine, except for this:when one player is moving his units, one can chat with other fractions (computers), while doing this, my friend end his turn, and the little window popped up to tell me this during me chatting with the peacekeepers. when closing the little window, the chatwindow became all black, and i couldnt get out of the chat-state. to continue our game we pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL and ended AC, and when restarting it the game simply wont begin a mulitplayer game. After restarting the computer it does. in short, the bug is that while chatting (ev. only to the peacekeepers) in a multi-game and the other player ends his turn to let one move ones units, the chatwindow turns black and you cant hit any buttons to continue. the other one is after this, you have to restart the computer to restart a multigame, but that, i can live with. thanks. / Gnorrath (i havent got the patch yet)

Try the patch. We've been killing this instances as we find them (many were found and fixed in 2.0). If you can mechanically repeat one, let me know. So far, it seems like the only ones left are really flaky timing ones.jkm firaxis games |

I'm getting this situation as well. Two of us are in a game, TCP over a local LAN, 2.0 Patches installed on both machines. Whenever the Diplomacy (chatting with another faction) screen is open and control passes to that player, The message saying it's their turn comes up, then when it's closed the diplomacy screen is all black and nothing will get control back. You can still click on some of the interface, most notably the buttons to switch between map views, etc., but other than that the game is dead. Killing the task leaves the machine in the DirectX video mode, and only a reboot will allow the game to function properly. This occurred with the human player being the Peacekeepers, as well as the host. Haven't tried it with other factions yet cuz it's such a pain to recover from, but it has happened repeatedly in our current game.Other than that things have been flawless (just an occasional hiccup). Systems involved: Host: Pent II 450 MHz 128MB RAM WIN98 Matrox G200 w/ 8 MB Other: PII 266 MHz 224MB RAM WIN98 Active (WinNT and Linux on separate partitions) ATI Rage Pro w/ 4 MB Most up to date video/net drivers on each Connection is 100base/TX Ethernet running on EtherExpress Pro/100B cards

To clarify, when I say that the diplomacy screen is all black, there are at least some of the lines drawn around where text would be, but no text, no leader pics, etc. |

This EXACT same scenario just locked up my multiplyer game as well. This problem doesn't seem to be limited to just a few people. |

I also have this same problem. Playing 2 people over a LAN, IPX. Completely reproducable. If the diplomacy screen is open, talking to a computer faction when the screen comes up telling me it is my turn, the diplomacy screen goes black, no way out other than ctrl-alt-del.
