I have an Aztech Washington Galaxy Sound Card from Packard Hell, and it has always been causing me problems with static sound on occasion. I recently go new drivers for it and that fixed that problem, but now my card isn't certified by Microsoft! What can I do to remedy this, excluding the possibility of getting a whole new card of course. I am getting stuttering sound because of it and it is very frustrating because it is affecting my will to sit down and play. Thanks for any help you can offer, I really like this game and want to play until nights end!

Well, all certified means is that Microsoft tested the drivers, so if the PB drivers are new, that's why they're not certified. If it solved the problem, don't worry about it. If they didn't, reinstall DX6 (on the CD in the DX folder) and that should solve it.jkm firaxis games |

You guys rock. This is one of the greatest message boards because you email when the post has a reply. Thanks for the quick response! I will try re-installing DX6 off the CD and hope it will fix it. I like the game a lot and it is no big deal not having great sound, but oh well, I hope it works. I suppose I could always get a new sound card.... |

I'm having a similar problem with my sound, only I'm only having trouble with this particular game. I've got a Crystal sound card with drivers that are not certified for Directx, but from what I read in this post, that's not a big deal. I tried to find updated drivers that are certified, but could find none. I've tried reinstalling DirectX with no success, and even got version 6.1 of it. Nothing seems to help clear up the choppy and repeated sound that I get. Any other suggestions? |
