Author Topic:   Why no 'official' commitment on the European patch?

I've been following this forum for a couple of days now and like everyone else I've been waiting for the European patch to be released. Has Firaxis or EA ever made some more definite commitment then stating that 'it will be released soon'? IMHO this has gotten to the point were the above statement is simply ridiculous. The US version of the patch was posted on 12-feb-99, we're almost 4 weeks later and they haven't even had the decency to update the NEWS section on the SMAC site... I like the game very much but I do not like the way we (Europeans) are treated by whoever is responsible for this.

I swear. It'll be out probably by the weekend. That's all I know. I could make something up..

Thank you very mutch for the information.
Some questions abouth the patch.
Is it the same patch as for the US version?
Or is there any more/less fixes?

For me I solved my problem - I changed my german version in an american one (Dealer is a good friend of mine !!).
Now I'm happy !!!!

If are annoyed waiting for the patch, get the US TERRAN.EXE. Replace your TERRAN.EXE with this, and use the US patch. Works perfectly for me and several others.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the info.
Just one more Q: Will the 3.0-patch be released simultaneously for the US and euro-versions or should we expect a similar delay (since I don't know how the euro-copyprotection works, I don't know whether it gets easier/quicker with each patch to implement it)?

It will most likely be US and UK, then a week later GR/FR. The technical hurdles have all been cleared, but translating the new text still needs to be done, as well as getting the testing resources free.

So when is the 3.0 patch coming out? Is there any point in releasing euro 2.0 before it?
