I have seen this phenomenon before (anyone buy Fallout 2 UK ? Still waiting to play it bug-free ?). But I really do hope we're not being ignored. After all, I did read someone from FIRAXIS denying that they ignore non-US customers, as they "generate as much or more revenue as the US market" (paraphrased). And yet I also read something about it taking just one week from patch release to it being converted to a UK version. So where is it ?
It seems so many games are buggy these days, it's almost like "buy the game, store it away, play it in six weeks time". Even so, the whole issue of US companies doing non-US versions seems to slow down the patch process horribly. Is it a question of "not caring ?". I can't say. All Firaxis will tell you is "it'll be done when it's finished" or somesuch pretty useless comment. I write software for a living, and if I gave release dates like that to my boss, I'd be in some deep water.
And it does seem a bit insulting to have been sold a faulty product. If it was electrical goods, you'd take it back, no ?
Anyway, FIRAXIS, if you've finished revelling (maybe deservedly) in the spotlight for your 98% game, perhaps you could spare a thought for those not in the US of A who bought your game on good faith, but are still stuck with just as buggy a copy as your US customers did on day 1...
Is this not discrimination on the basis of where you live ? Aren't there laws against discrimination in the US ?
